“With so many elements, we knew the campaign was going to be complicated to pull together visually as well as from a production standpoint. We used Pete Barrett because of the great look and style of his work, as well as for his ability to handle large productions.” – Mark Sorensen, Senior Art Director - BBDO
From playful to mysterious in content, John's work is often described as rich, fresh and authentic.
John consistently impresses his clients with a work ethic that he considers standard. Not long ago, he added four unbilled production days to travel to the Bonneville Salt Flats to capture material the art director desperately wanted in his client's campaign but knew wasn't in the budget. John is addicted to image making and adamant about going the extra mile to make award-winning images.
"Aside from image making, I like a good bike, a good bourbon, music, backpacking in my native Colorado, sailing at every opportunity and experiencing the eccentricities of new places and people. I’m a fervent creator who lives to make great work with great people! Lets build something together.” - John Fulton
"Complex image making can be a challenge with many artists but when working with John Fulton, the process is always a blend of professionalism, humor, and artistry. On our most recent project, we worked with a client that had several specific stipulations covering budget, usage, and ambitious expectations of the final work. It was a tight and complicated production with aggressive goals. John proposed the best plan of attack and we dove in. The shoot included capturing a true to life astronaut suit in studio one day and shooting a fully lit racetrack during a rainstorm on another. Then in a different state we shot on location with an over 40 piece orchestra in formal attire at an antique theatre after shooting the conductor the day before. Everything had to be lit and captured in the right way for the pieces to come together and any one of a 100 things could have gone wrong, but I had full confidence in John and each was a fun challenge to overcome together. But the capture portion is only half the battle. To get the ambitious images that our client required and to stay on budget, John’s approach involved a combination of extensive retouching and 3D modeling. As a producer, when you get a production proposal from a photographer that includes complex post work that they may be only nominally in charge of, it’s not ideal. When John wraps a shoot, producers and AD’s know that hitting the shutter isn’t the end of his contribution and that he’s only half done. He’s invested in the project from bid to final delivery and personally handles the post work on all projects. John’s brand of problem solving directly enhances the finished product, delivering images that look like a much larger production, and winning a fast approval from a client that can be tough to please." - John Rosato, Senior Art Producer, mu//en
“We’ve collaborated on 3 different projects with John. I have to say he really let his skills shine for us when he created 4 different photo-illustrations for Georgia Power’s Plant Vogtle construction campaign. While it was a complex project that required capturing a myriad of pieces on location and in studio, when it was all assembled, what he delivered was a masterpiece. John goes above and beyond. Does he even sleep? It seemed like there wasn’t a moment when the camera wasn’t going full steam. When working with him, I know without a doubt I’ll get top-notch visuals with a great attitude.” - Nick Munoz, Art Director, The Richards Group
"Our 2nd Eaton project with John Fulton took us from the mountains of Telluride to the deserts of New Mexico on a 4 day mission to capture some of the most extreme conditions where our client’s products are put to the test. We were up before dawn and finished well after sunset every day, but when the final files were delivered it was clear that it was all well worth it. The images were simply spectacular! The client and the agency were extremely happy. We've worked with John many times over the years on a variety of different clients. He has true ingenuity for delivering jaw-dropping and affective visuals no matter what the project. Of course it never hurts that he always knows where the best restaurants in town are as well." - Rick Bryson, Creative Director, Erwin-Penland Hill-Holiday
